Birch Bark Biting with Ms. Pat

We had a special guest in our classroom, who showed us the traditional art of biting birch bark!  It was really cool.

First we started with folding a simple piece of white paper into a triangular shape, then added three dark lines as our design.  After that, we folded our paper over and rubbed it with a stone so that our pencil marks would transfer over.  We continued this until the whole page had a super cool design...like these:

Then we transfered our practice onto birch barch, and instead of using pencils...we used our teeth!

We ended up with some amazing designs.

After laminating them, we got to take some home and saved one for a special project.  Stay tuned...
